Consultant cardiologist and multimodality cardiac imager, Director, Cardiovascular Research Heart and Vascular Institute, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, UAE
The imaging working group (IWG) is the official home for cardiovascular imaging specialists. Under the auspices of the Emirates Cardiac Society (ECS), IWG brings together cardiologists, radiologists and other specialists with interest in all cardiac imaging modalities, including echocardiography, radionuclide cardiac imaging, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging. With the primary focus of providing patient-centered imaging, IWG also aims to promote judicious use of various cardiac imaging modalities and on prioritizing a patient outcome-driven approach to selection and utilization of imaging.
The IWG includes active cardiologists and provides multi-faceted educational programs raising awareness about applications of various imaging modalities in different cardiovascular disease states. These programs include a mix of on-line and in-person events and attract audience from UAE in addition to several neighboring countries. In addition, IWG-run activities emphasize the importance of selecting imaging modalities on best available scientific evidence.
An additional important aim of IWG is to provide practicing cardiovascular imagers with networking opportunities to share experience, exchange ideas to optimize care of patients, participate in multicenter research projects, and many other. Ultimately, the IWG would be the core for a dedicated cardiovascular imaging professional society in UAE.
