At Upon completion of this course, audience will be better prepared to plan, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based preventative and therapeutic care for patients with or at risk for coronary artery disease. Specific learning objectives include;

1. Describe the anatomy and normal blood circulation of the heart.
2. Discuss the incidence and impact of cardiovascular disease.
3. Review the following disease of;
   • Atherosclerosis
   • Acute Coronary Syndrome
   • Myocardial Infarction
   • Infection and Inflammation of the Heart.
   •  
4. Explain the physiologic basis for the clinical manifestations of heart failure.
5. Describe expected clinical assessment findings for patients with heart failure.
6. Define expected outcomes for therapeutic management of patients with heart failure.
7. Formulate a teaching plan for patients and families regarding heart failure
8. Differentiate between the major clinical presentations of CAD.
9. Identify the signs, symptoms, and clinical test outcome criteria used to screen and diagnose coronary artery disease.
10. State the principles underlying the acute management of the disease.
11. Explain the components of a comprehensive plan of care and monitoring for patients.
12. Discuss the complications and comorbidities associated with CAD .

Two Days Course

Total of 14 Hours

The training course shall run for two days for a total of 14 hours.  Each participant shall be actively participating in interactive discussions and activities aimed to prepare him/her to address the needs of cardiac patients and enrich personal/self-care when working with these patients. A combination of teaching and learning approaches that will be used, including:

• Participative Teaching Strategies – Lectures, Discussion, and case presentations.
• Clinical simulation with individual and group reflective discussions.

• This Course is intended for Critical Care Department staff that have the responsibility in providing care for patients post cardiac surgery

  • Registered Nurses of Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit, and Cath. Lab.
  • Intern Nurses
  • Physicians in training (residents and fellows)
  • Respiratory therapists
